Paris Hotel Guide - Where to Stay

Planning a Paris Stay ? Here's our Guide on which hotels to book

Rooftop Bar in Paris
ROOF - Madame Reve Hotel, Paris

As you can imagine, travelling to Paris at least three times every year, I have clocked up quite a few hotel stays along the way!! Never one to stay in the same hotel twice - why would you when there is so much to explore - I always set out with the intention of exploring different areas and neighbourhoods every time I travel to Paris. With so many fantastic hotels in the city, from elegant particuliers in Le Marais and Saint Germain to Hausmannian boltholes in the 6th arrondissement, I now have a pretty comprehensive list of recommendations!

Read on for our Paris Hotel Top Picks:

Grand Pigalle Hotel

Out near Montmartre, an area of Paris I would have excluded in the past, nowadays it has had a good clean up and all in all, is a pretty cool place to hang out! The Grand Pigalle itself is a retro-style den that manages to capture the hedonism of the streets outside with its buzzing and atmospheric hotel and bar. Think art-deco features alongside geometric patterns and brass door knockers!

Don't forget to have supper in the attached restaurant, Frenchies! With it's bistro style menu and top-notch cocktail list, you will be forgiven for skipping a trip to the Sacre-Coeur and Monmartre (just a short walk away) to settle in for another round, you are in Paris after all!!

Understated decor within a buzzing Paris neighbourhood

Ideally located for the night life of SoPi (South Pigalle)

Wonderful bistro style restaurant on-site

A short walk from Monmartre - a bohemian neighbourhood with a village-feel, famed for the Sacre Coeur and Moulin Rouge!

Hotel Molitor

A modern hotel with clean lines and cool vibes. Hardly surprising that it has since been featured in Emily in Paris, a bonafide guilty pleasure of mine! It may surprise you to know that Paris is a city of pools - home to 38 public swimming pools to be exact - but none can claim to have the history of the Molitor.

Based on the edge of Paris' 16th Arrondissement (next to Stade Roland Garros), this ocean-liner inspired hotel was inaugurated by not one, but two Olympic Swimmers. Incredibly, it was also here that the bikini debuted in 1946!

Today, after a $100 million investment, the Molitor has become one of the city's coolest hangouts. Complete with a Clarins Spa and rooftop garden terrace with views of the Eiffel Tower, it has more of an artsy crowd. Why do I love it? It's like staying at a beach club in the least likely of cities!

Hotel Panache

The quintessential Parisian stay! Hotel Panache is situated in the bustling 9th arrondissement of Paris, just a short walk away from the Folies Bergeres and the shopping district of the Grands Boulevards! The hotel itself has plenty of charm and I love the mix of tourists and Parisian locals who frequent the restaurant and bar.

The unusual triangular shape of the building mean no two rooms are the same, with much of the interiors custom-made to fit. The rooms have a playful flair, complete with vintage style telephones and bespoke headboards!

Mob House

Based in the booming Saint Ouen area of Paris, Mob House had me at Philippe Starck! The infamous designer has teamed up with entrepreneur Michel Reybier and vegan pioneer Cyril Aouizerate to conceive this eco-aware Parisian stay. Not to mention it is just streets away from Paris' famous Marche des Puces flea market - be still my beating heart!

No detail has been overlooked, from artisanal French tiles to marble against concrete. With 100 rooms, including 50 suites, Mob House also has a 20 metre, heated, open-air pool surrounded by trees and loungers! When you get bored of that, wander around to the cluster of markets in Saint Ouen - I love Paul Bert Serpette, the largest antiques market! There is also an annual night-time market festival with live music!

Pulitzer Paris Hotel

A newcomer but becoming a firm favourite in the 9th arrondissement, the Pulitzer Paris Hotel is a chic hotel choice with 44 rooms. Created within adjoined stuccoed townhouses, this is the perfect choice for those seeking a calm oasis - think wooden cladding, an abundance of cream and glowy lighting!

Don't skip a coffee and parisian pastry on their heated and covered patio!

Madame Reve

The ultimate Paris retreat to see and be seen! Set in what was once Paris's only 24-hour Post Office in the Les Halles district, Madame Reve is definitely for the city's well-heeled, with incredible monument views and an unmatched 10,000 square-foot rooftop bar and restaurant, aptly named ROOF.

This is as central Paris as you can get - making it a great hub for exploring the city's rich culture and historic monuments - most of which can be seen from the hotel's panoramic windows. Despite this, it's not flashy, rather you either know it is a post office turned chic hotel or you don't! With not one but two restaurants on-site, any length of stay here feels far too short!
