Let's Talk Trousers

Trousers, they're probably the trickiest thing to buy online and the item of our wardrobe we update least. When we find that one trusty trouser style that we love we wear them to death and tend to update the top half instead. In my own wardrobe I own about 4 pairs of trousers that aren't jeans and gym leggings/lounge pants. It's been tough to get myself out of the said lounge wear during lockdown but slipping into something that isn't stretchy lycra has been revolutionary on my mood.

I've picked 7 styles from the Spring Summer Biscuit edit to inspire you to trust in the trouser... I'm 5ft 1 so a couple of styles are rolled up at the hem as the Danish brands in particular are catered towards the tall 5ft 6+ individual but it's nothing a trip to the tailors can't fix.

1. Ichi

Elasticated waist, check, wide leg, check, and a lightweight fabric, check. Easy to wear and super flattering these are the Ichi Ansikki floral trousers (£50, £37.50 after NEWSEASON25 discount).

I've gone for comfort and paired them with the Ichi Yarlet White Cotton Sweater (£40)  which also comes in pale pink.

These palazzo pants are covered in a pretty ditsy floral print, the same print comes in a swimsuit and bikini too for a matchy matchy Summer look.

Wearing: Size small trousers, I definitely need an XS as Ichi is an oversized brand. Sweater is XS.

2. Part Two

A classic and easy pull on pant, the Piperly from Part Two (£89.95, £67.46 after discount) come back each Summer in a new shade. This season's sandy tone makes me wish for a safari holiday but for now I'll pair it with a stripy Breton tee for stay home comfy look.

The Part Two Penna T-Shirt (£49.95, £37.46 after discount) is made from modal as opposed to cotton which gives it stretch and a lighter feel.

Wearing: size 34 trousers, turned up twice at the hem and pulled in to the max, they are generously sized. The t-shirt is an XS.

3. Teoh and Lea

I LOVE these, flattering and comfy, I know they aren't trousers strictly speaking but we are approaching Summer.. High waists and vertical stripes are a winning combo for someone short and the stretchy paper bag waist, pockets and waist belt all make me love these shorts even more. Seen here with the American Vintage Gamipy Green Vest (£40)

The thick woven cotton oozes quality!

Teoh and Lea Stripy Shorts (£99, £74.25 after discount code)

Wearing: XS shorts and the size small vest

4. American Vintage

I know jeans are the very last thing we want to wear right now, I think most of us are scared to go near ours just in case the constant snacking of lockdown means they no longer fit! BUT these ones by American Vintage (Tineborrow White Jeans, £125, £93.75 after discount) have a stretchy elasticated waistband and a straight slouchy leg. They're 100% cotton which is rare for jeans as they are usually mixed with elastane, meaning these should hold their shape beautifully over time.

Hello new favourite jeans!

Firstly I've paired these super comfy mom jeans with a swimming costume by Beck Sondergaard because why not?! I just love the pastel shades and I'm a massive fan of smocking at the moment.

This gloriously soft cashmere cardigan is from new online exclusive brand Jumper1234. I adore the big white plastic buttons and the yellow trims, quite a contemporary take on a classic shape. Jumper 1234 Blossom Cardigan (£155, £116.25 after discount)

How can you resist this swimsuit?! Beck Sondergaard Stella Swimsuit (£75)

I loved these jeans so much I couldn't stop at one outfit so here they are paired with a simple Part Two Solange Linen Cami (£35) for a more classic Summer look.

Last look I promise.. here's how I would wear them to the office, Birkenstocks (never off my feet from April to September) and Edith pink blouse from Des Petits Hauts (£150, £105 with NEWSEASON25 code)

Wearing: Jeans in XS, these are a true size 6/waist 25. Swimsuit in a size small (too long in the body for me as a small is a 8/10). Cardigan size 1, they run small and the camisole is size 34. The Edith blouse is a size 0, it's on the generous side so do size down if you are in between sizes.

5. Second Female

The softest velvetiest cords I've ever come across and the vibrant buttercup yellow shade is a bit of fun for Summer. Let the cords do the talking and pair with white sneakers and a simple white tee. A nice American Vintage grey cardigan would be the perfect companion for cooler days.

Wearing : size XS, they're a tucked up quite considerably and will need hemmed before I go out in them!

6. Teoh and Lea

I love this new brand so much, I had to pick a second look from them. In my head this is the kind of outfit you'd wear on a warm evening abroad.. but we can dream.

The black camisole is covered in tonal black embroidery (also available in orange) with thin adjustable straps and a loose floaty fit. Ideal for tucking into these smart casual trousers. Teoh and Lea Black Cami (£85, £63.75 after discount)

Teoh and Lea Cream Trousers (£90, £67.50 after discount)

Wearing: Size XS in both

7. Bellerose

In a soft and gorgeous pale pink linen and cotton blend these slouchy casual trousers by Belgium brand Bellerose (one of my all time favourites) are a true winner.

Again with an elasticated waist and a striped bow tie at the front these trousers are the Summer trouser you'll reach for again and again. Whether with a simple tee, a chunky jumper or a white shirt for a work zoom call. Bellerose Vael Pink Trousers (£150, £112.50 after discount) worn with an American Vintage ververin green (khaki) Sonoma cotton top (£55). If you haven't already got a Sonoma on your wardrobe then quick as they are selling out fast!

Wearing: size 0 trousers and size small top
