Biscuit Travels - A Slice of Island Life in Greece

Two islands, one holiday. Exploring Corfu and Paxos.

CORFU

Staying in an airbnb up in the north east of the island of Corfu, we were tucked up the hill in amongst the olive groves much to the chagrin of my teenagers but perfect for me and my need for peace and quiet!

With our own pool and no neighbours, I was very happy to be isolated.

To be honest, none of us were complaining. Now that my children are all above the age of 17yrs and so not very childlike(!), we just enjoyed each others company. Long chats into the night, great competitive games of Old Maid, S**t Head (I didn't make up the name, it apparently is actually called it!), Irish Snap (another one of those drinking games) and Marco Polo in the pool. We took a heavy load of books with us and we were set!

Where to eat on the North East Coast Corfu

The seafood in Greece is some of the best in the world. Being on the coast we were spoilt for choice. I've listed some of our top picks below:

Taverna Agni

This beachfront Taverna has been a staple since 1972. Initially opened by husband and wife team Charilaos and Aphrodite, the taverna is now operated by their son Theo, along with his wife and sister.

Eucalyptus

Set in the bay on San Stefano, Eucalyptus offers a relaxed environment with warm, friendly waiter service and a great selection of food and wines.

Taverna Glyfa

Set between the sea and the mountains, this impressive family-run taverna serves traditional homemade recipes, delicious meze and of course the catch of the day!

Old Perithia

A traditional family taverna set in the heart of the village square since 1863!

What to do during the day

Mongonissi Beach

A beautiful bay complete with sandy beach and transparent waters - what's not to love? With plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, all you need is your SPF, hat and a few good books!

Boat Hire

Push the boat out...! Not something we typically do, we decided to hire a boat for the day. An exhilarating way to explore the North East Coast of Corfu by sea - visiting secluded coves, beaches accessible only by boat and seaside tavernas with docks where you can have lunch and enjoy local delicacies!

Bike Hire

Again, a fantastic way to get out and explore a new area. We hired bikes in Paxos from Fougaros to explore. Offering traditional as well as electric bikes, enjoy the scenery - from olive groves and vineyards to sheer cliffs and the glorious sea!
