Biscuit: Behind the Scenes at Pyrus Botanicals

With what looks to be the last of the summer sun now behind us, there was no better time than this week to shoot Biscuit's Autumn/Winter 2024 campaign! With a groaning rail of fabulous new season pieces, boots, scarves and more, we headed out into Monday's misty scene!

Never one to take for granted the wild beauty on our doorstep, we opted to shoot this year's campaign in East Lothian at the gorgeous Pyrus Botanicals. A stunning 3-acre Victorian walled garden owned and run by Fiona Inglis, Pyrus is a specialist botanical design studio and cut-flower garden who design events, botanical installations, sets and experiences for brands as well as work for film, TV and editorial. With clients such as Aesop, The White Company, Strathberry and The Telegraph Luxury, Biscuit were in very good company!

Established in 2011, Pyrus was initially inspired by the need to grow unusual, scented blooms for their creative practice - flowers that at the time, were incredibly difficult to source in the UK. Along with her co-founder Natalya, Fiona soon established the cutting garden which quickly became a passion!

Much like Biscuit, they are endlessly inspired by the patterns and rhythms of nature. Working across the mediums of contemporary horticulture, photography, installation art and events, Pyrus has built close relationships with private clients as well as brands nationwide.

Furthermore, Pyrus garden softly, which means minimal disturbance to the ecosystem as well as the communities who live inside its walls. Definitely Biscuit approved!

With the perfect weather for the shoot - yes there was torrential rain and buckets of mist to boot - we delighted in telling our Autumn Story with the help of our shoot team - Emilia Barclay (photographer) and Holly Mitchell (Film maker / Videoographer) - as well as the ever divine Grace Dempsey and Anna Young from Colours Agency. And as a Biscuit first, we also had a miniature model on set - the gorgeous Violet who seemed very happy indeed in her wellies and tutu!

Inspired by the recipes of Skye McAlpine, Amanda pulled out all the stops for the photoshoot lunch..even if it was originally for the perfect shot! The food - a Tomato Tarte and Chicken and Fennel Salad - looked incredible set upon block printed linen on handpainted tableware sourced in France! All this beneath the polytunnel as the rain hammered down.
